About a month ago I found myself reading periodontists' yelp reviews and I'm eager to contribute my praise for Dr. Pasquinelli. When a crown broke in the front of my mouth I was mortified. I did some research both to see if I could save some money and to find a periodontist I'd feel comfortable with. A faculty member at UCSF told me I would need a bone graft, 3 surgeries spread out over 9 to 11 months, probably. Needless to say, I was filled with dread and eager to find someone else. On my dentist, Dr. Mike Hack's recommendation, and based on yelp reviews, I chose to have Dr. P do my oral surgery. The initial exam was remarkably thorough. I was given an estimate for the procedure, and set a date for the surgery, which was last Monday. I am amazed, there was NO pain. Not during, not after, not in the week since my extraction and implant, none. Not only that, but I remembered that the bill had been an estimate. When I asked about this, I was refunded a portion of my payment. I was impressed with the integrity of the office, with Dr. P's skill and willingness to explain things to me. I gratefully and eagerly endorse him! Had I known a month ago that I would find myself on the other end of this surgery feeling like I do now, how much anxiety would I have been spared?!

Kirk is one of the premier Periodontists in the world. He is second to none. I am not a patient, but rather a student of his. He has written many articles, given countless lectures. I have spent thousands of dollars to take courses from him and feel highly priviledged to have been able to learn from a master. Lay people are hardly qualified to review his skills and what he does for them. He is the best and would recommend him as "THE BEST" without reservation. LD Singer DMD

Dr. Pasquinelli is amazing. I went to 3 other doctors trying to find out what was wrong with my bridge. I had pain and bleeding. All of the other doctors did not properly diagnose the issue -- over the course of months. I asked a friend, who was a dentist: Which doctor do other dentists go to? He said Dr. Pasquinelli. Dr. Pasquinelli diagnosed the problem and offered the solution. He also suggested the most cost effective approach. I felt no pain in the procedure. The healing process was uneventful. The result not only ended the bleeding and pain, but gave me a much improved cosmetic appearance. I wasn't even planning on the latter. Dr. Pasquinelli is the best. Period. I read the other reviews here. The one star reviews are off-base or silly. There are always complainers in every business and every walk of life. It's a shame that people have to be so unfair to hard working people doing a good job.

Dr. Olivares is an excellent periodontist. She took the time to do a thorough exam and talk with me about what was going on. She ordered a sophisticated level of X-rays and testing for possible genetic problems to accurately diagnose my problem. The surgery she did on my gums went very well and I healed quickly. I had had surgery previously by another periodontist and Dr. Olivares work was far superior. She really has skilled hands. In addition, she is delightful and has great interpersonal skills. She listened to my concerns, answered my questions until I understood what I needed to know. I never felt rushed or railroaded into a decision before I was ready. Dr Olivares is a first rate periodontist who uses state of the art methodology and is an exceptional surgeon.

4.5 stars. The only reason I took off a half-star is that they don't handle any insurance which makes life a lot more of a hassle. That being said, Dr. Pasquinelli is amazing - as odd as it is to think about "enjoying" a dental experience, I thoroughly did. He's very pleasant, thorough, and it was overall a great experience.

My dentist sent me to Dr. Pasquinelli years ago. Like others, I'm grateful for his existence - and amazed at how relaxed I am for each visit, due in no small part to the fact that he is nonpareil. To address one reviewer's baffling reference to him as "cocky": judging by the tone of the review, I suspect a little projection. There's a big difference between cockiness and being superb at and confident in what you do. Dr. P is a unique personality, for sure. He's not cuddly, and I suppose his imperturbable calm could be either reassuring or disturbing. But he's actually a nice guy - unassuming, respectful, and even funny. When something once went flooey post-surgery (which is normal every once in a while, even for the best; we're humans, not robots) he addressed it right away, professionally and - what was most striking - with real curiosity (as opposed to alarm, annoyance, etc). That reaction explains as well as anything why he's so damn good at what he does.

I had a somewhat complicated implant surgery in the front of my mouth and Kirk was able to complete it with confidence. My dentist was afraid that an implant might not be possible but Krik was sure that he could complete the implant successfully. The staff was very professional and Kirk was extremely thorough. He exceeded my expectations completely and has left me with an incredible smile. Thanks Kirk!

Who would have known, So painless, professional, (pleasant?), The Best in SF (Anywhere?).

In the middle of the journey of life, I found myself lost in a harsh, dark, frightening, painful wood: gum recession! To overcome this, I knew I would have to descend into Dante's 9th circle of Hell, with no Virgil or Beatrice to guide me out. Fortunately, however, two excellent dentists recommended Kirk Pasquinelli to me. I don't want to say this on the Internet, because probably I will not be able to get an appointment with him after this (he will be too booked up!), but both dentists told me Kirk Pasquinelli was one of the best experts in the country in dealing with gum issues. I am still in the midst of the painful healing process of my surgery, but I do believe I have found a Virgil to lead me out of the dark wood of gum recession, and for that I am enormously grateful to the brilliant, heaven sent gifts of Dr. Pasquinelli. Thank you.

A previous review cited that Dr. P is the "wushu" master of Periodontics. I couldn't agree more. This guy is amazing, so kind, thorough, a true genius at his craft. I have to have major grafting done as well, but his thorough explanation, friendly staff and holistic recommendations make it so much more bearable. They really tried to work with my schedule for surgery. They are more helpful and courteous than any doctor's office I've ever been to. They don't take insurance upfront (considering Insurance company's red-tape, I wouldn't either), but offer to send in all of the necessary info for reimbursement so I don't have to bother. The office is clean, pleasant and quiet with a parking garage around the corner. The Dr. came highly recommended by dentist friends of mine from L.A. to N.Y. He made a special appt. for me before he usually sees clients to address an emergent issue. I feel totally lucky to have him as a doc.

Dr. Pasquinelli is AMAZING! I came to see Kirk after an implant placed by a different oral surgeon failed, taking a lot of bone and gum with it. It was one of my top front teeth, so a replacement implant was tricky. In fact, I had multiple dental implant specialists turn me away, because they didn't feel like they could make an implant work in the same spot twice. But then I was lucky enough to find Dr. Pasquinelli. It was definitely a long process given the complexity of my case, but I really appreciated the fact that he didn't try to rush it, but recommended an approach that would provide the highest likelihood of success over the long term. I really wish had a before picture, because what he was able to accomplish both functionally and aesthetically is truly amazing. The "after" picture speaks for itself. He is not only incredibly talented, but a great guy as well!

Dr Pasquinelli is indeed very good. I had an implant done by him and everything went smoothly. Having said that, here are my two cents for what it is worth. While entirely competent, I have been told, and I have experienced personally, that he is one of the priciest perio's in the city. My insurance only covered a fraction of what it costs to do the implant. I could have bought a small car with the amount of $$ I had to shell out. Secondly, he is very conservative in his practice. While this is a bonus in some ways, I was sometimes frustrated with the amount of time involved in this process. To sum up, if you have all the money and time in the world, for sure go here.

This is my 4th dental review. I appear to be a dental maven. The truth is that I've had a lot of work done and in recent years, I have been fortunate to have learned from my mistakes and worked very hard at finding and asking for the best dentists and specialists in SF. I had to get an implant for a front tooth - that is a very important matter. I went to no less than 3 specialists. Based on my consultations, Dr. Pasquinelli was the best. And I am going to say openly that he was the most expensive. But again, this very important procedure was a matter of quality and aesthetics and a delicate matter indeed. It has been years. I have not had any issues. The healing was swift, I never think about the implant and my dental hygenists even go out of their way to tell me what good work was done on the implant. If you are fortunate enough to have good insurance or can afford to go the extra mile expense wise, do not hesitate to see Dr. Pasquinelli for a tooth implant, especially if its a tooth that plays a starring role in your smile. This is where you want to spend your money. And I think his work is worth it. I'm very appreciative of Dr. Pasquinelli and feel very grateful that I found him and that he helped me look and feel better. By the way, he was nice to me. He's a good doctor, b/c a good doctor completely understands that you want to look good too and you want to look forward to a normal, undetectable implant. If you don't understand that, then you don't care about quality b/c that's where the SKILL and EXPERTISE comes in. Sloppy work, unskilled hands, messy sutures, that's for the birds. This is precisely why Dr. Pasquinelli is excellent and above-average. I didn't have to explain how important this procedure was to me. I recall that he treated me great and with lots of attention, care and respect. Thank you again Dr. Pasquinelli. I think you're great.

Pasquinelli, Kirk Pasquinelli. The man is quite simply, a Periodontal Wushu Master. From his all-black surgical scrubs, to his meticulously trimmed stubble beard, to the high tech computer screens that cover the walls of the treatment rooms, every aspect of this man and his practice scream of professional competence, cool control and surgical precision. When Kirk manipulates cold, steel tools inside your mouth, he measures, probes and evaluates with a scientist's attention to detail. He moves quickly. He speaks to his attendant nurse in a relaxed but directive manner. He explains each procedure with detail so that I understand what we're doing, why we're doing it and what the results will be. In certain cases, the Master told me I didn't need surgery and he discouraged me from undergoing expensive procedures. I appreciated that. Kirk is the simply the best. Period.

I was very pleased with my visit with Dr. Olivares. She was very thorough and informative as to my options regarding my deep pockets. Luckily I just need to be more diligent with my home care. Nice doctor, easy, smooth appointment.

Dr Pasquinelli and his team are probably the most professional dental business I have ever gone to, and I've been to quite a few. Kirk is not the "hold your hand" type of specialist but is sincere, to the point and very informative. I've had to have 2 fairly complex surgeries with him and so far everything has gone as expected. Kirk's office team and dental assistants are all exceptional, professional, and informative. If I had to do this all again, I'd go back to Kirk in a heart beat. If you have the $$$ or good insurance this is your guy. He's the best in SF!

Best!!!! I had a very complicated implant procedure and I don't think any other Periodontist could have done a more perfect job. He is the consumate professional and a true expert in the field. I was referred to him by my dentist Dr. Dick Gregory. I live on the peninsula and and could have had the work done at an office closer to my home, but the trips to the city were well worth the trouble.

I've never trusted anyone more with so many dangerous tools! That's gotta say something! Also, I didn't feel a thing, not during, not after.... He knows what he's doing and he is definitely the BEST there is! *smiles big*

I am pleased with all the service from the whole team at Pasquinelli's office. Joyce runs the front and always remembers my name. I feel the attention and detail from everyone. Prior to this experience, I checked out another perio office. They treated me like a number and just wanted me to Pick a date and do the gum grafting. I left frustrated with the way I was treated. Dr. Pasquinelli took the time to explain everything in detail. I did round one of the gum grafting and now back for the second side. After my surgery, he personally called to check on me. That is what I call service!!! Going to a perio is not a pleasant experience but they make it a much easier process. I will refer my friends who need gum grafting. He is well known in his field and a professional. I thought I would be in a lot more pain but luckily not the case. Many of his staff have been with him for several years. It says a lot about his management!!!

The dentists in SF call him "the god of Gums". Two out-of-area dentists who have seen me since he did my gums rave about his work, saying it better than anything else they've seen. You'll pay more than anywhere else. If you have the $$$$, and are willing to spend them on saving your teeth, he's your guy. He sliced off the roof of my mouth and sewed it onto my gums and I never even took any of his pain killers. If you're looking for a budget option, he's not your guy. I don't know enough to tell you whether the budget option is practically as good, but he's the best and he charges like he's the best. Cleanings are a little bit under twice the price of my suburban dentist (!) but holy smokes, the woman who cleaned them is two steps above any dental hygenist and my teeth were cleaner than the day I started teething. Again not cheap, but the best quality.

Dr. Pasquinelli just took out all my wisdom teeth. Obviously I've never had this procedure done before so I have little to compare it with, but, I think my experience was about as good as it gets. Everyone I told before the procedure was concerned and some tried not to let their horror show. Obviously a lot of people have a bad experience with wisdom tooth extraction. I admit I was rather apprehensive, but to be honest, it was a bit of an anticlimax. I don't remember much about the procedure, but I know it didn't hurt. I have not had to use the prescription pain killers, there hasn't been any swelling, and now, two days later, its all beginning to feel better. Either I'm very lucky or Dr, Pasquinelli is very good. I rather think Dr. Pasquinelli knows what he's doing.

Dr. Pasquinelli was recommended to me by my dentist. I had to have 20 grafts done on my receeding gums. He was able to do them all at once. I have had people in the dental field tell me that only he could do that. For pre op, he perscribed homeopathic medicines to reduce bruising and swelling, and he set me expectations regarding what he was goind to do. I liked his focus on using other methods to assist in a positive outcome of the surgery like homeopathic medicines. The procedure itself was painless in my pseudo drugged/gassed state. The pain meds following worked well. I had no issues with the sitches or with the retainer covering the roof of my mouth where he harvested the grafts. I now have a face of nice full puffy gums like I did as a kid (additional bonus is it fills out a collegen depleted face) and I haven't had any problems in the year following. I go in for checkups 3 times a year, with twice a year cleanings by his staff. It is true he doesn't take insurance which is a drag because his specialty is not cheap. And he might not have a real outgoing personality, but he is professional, friendly, and an expert in what he does. Due to the quality of his work, I should never have to have this done again, but if I did, I would go back to Kirk in a minute.
