Dr. Josh Berd and Dr. Helen DeFrancesco operate their clinic The Dentist Group from Gough Street, San Francisco, offer high-quality dental care in the areas of preventative dentistry, bonding and white fillings, crowns and bridges, dental implants, cosmetic dentistry, veneer dentistry, tooth whitening, emergency care, and orthodontics.
Dr. Berd follows the philosophy of providing customized care utilizing cutting-edge techniques and equipment in a comfortable environment. He graduated from the University of The Pacific School of Dentistry where he currently also serves as a clinical professor. Dr. Berd also has a training certificate in dental implants from the UCSF School of Dentistry.
Dr. Helen DeFrancesco likes to build healthy relations with patients. She, too, is a graduate of the University of The Pacific School of Dentistry, serves as an Associate Professor at the same university, and participates in community service and volunteering for medical missions.

Absolutely spectacular experience. Super modern, super friendly, asked me what Netflix show I liked then put it on in my private room while I waited! Came from Western Dental which is an absolute nightmare and this place was beyond pleasant. Dr. Berd is knowledgeable and incredibly helpful. For the first time ever, I'm actually excited to go back for a teeth cleaning. Seriously. Thrilled with the whole experience.

Dr. Berd was the first dentist I chose when moving to the City. I originally worked right across the street and chose him out of convenience. In the long run, I'm glad I did. I absolutely love their office. It's clean and always presentable. Their staff has always been super sweet no matter my visit. On my last visit, my hygienist's name was Kristine. She was personable, empathetic and super efficient! I loved my interaction with her and Dr. Berd. If you're looking for a great dentist, Dr. Berd is the way to go. He recently just opened up a new office on close to market. You will LOVE HIM!

I've been going to see Dr. Berd for 2 to 3 years now and every single time I am treated with above and beyond patient care. I suffer from TMJ and in my late teens I ended up having my jaw muscles lock while my mouth was open at the dentist. It was an awful experience resulting in me completely being terrified of going to the dentist again. About 8-10 years later, I knew it was time. I have been grinding my teeth at night in my sleep since I was a kid and if I didn't take care of it now, I knew I'd be in a bad place. I went to Dr. Berd after the recommendation from a coworker as their (old) office was right next to ours. I explained my concerns and was met with absolute understanding and care. Every person who has cleaned my teeth was kind and gentle. Dr. Berd and Dr. Helen are fantastic. I can't recommend this office enough and thank them for their outstanding customer service.

Josh Berd and crew are awesome! I recently switched over to his office and have had my first and second appointment...onto cavity number 2 :( bummer, but Josh takes a lot of time with new patients and he and his awesomely friendly team care about your teeth! They don't try to sell you on things you don't need. Plus, their new patient questionnaire that allows you to choose free spirit with a smiley face for your martial status is so SF and so great! LOL If you're looking for a new dentist I definitely recommend checking this office out!

First time going to a dentist in SF and it was fabulous! The office is modern and clean, everyone was SO friendly and professional, and they were very upfront about the cost of everything, which was refreshing. I even got a lesson on how to improve my flossing to reduce plaque near my gums (you would think someone would have taught me this before, but sadly, nope). The office even has a friendly dog to pet and play with! Will definitely be going back to get whitening treatments and more in the future

Amazing amazing amazing! Going to the dentist can be this pleasant. Where do I start? How about on time appointment.... Pleasant and friendly check in, amazingly modor decor and top in class facility and equipment. Josh is super friendly, made small talks that makes you feel comfortable and get settled in, cleaning was done efficiently and yes the dentist himself did the cleaning not some hygienist. X-Ray check up was thorough and Josh took his time to explain the findings, which was nice. Billing was covered by major insurance. Everything was spot on.

Dimina is ALWAYS such a treat! She always keeps me calm (I can't help but build all sorts of anxiety upon arriving). She talks me thorough what will happen so that I'm aware of what I'm getting myself into. In my experience with dentistry... I prefer to be talked through whatever procedure is going on. Sitting in a chair with 2 pairs of hands and tons of tools is quite invasive and one can't help but feel vulnerable, just a little guidance and time keeping helps those of us that have had traumatic dental issues in the past. She is pleasant, kind, helpful and knowledgeable. Very professional. While both Jade and Jamie are great to see upon arriving... I have dealt with/worked with Jamie much more. She is GREAT! Helpful, knowledgeable, and patient (I ask a lot of questions). Jade is fabulous also though. The hygienist Sandi is AWESOME! Down to earth, gentle, quick... and ALSO talks me through the procedure. Keeps me at ease "we're almost done", "let me know if you feel uncomfortable", etc. She feels like a friend.

Highly recommended! I have been going to Dr. Berd for almost 5 years and keep enjoying it every time. It's very common to dread going to a doctor appointment or getting a dental procedure, but it's quite the opposite with Dr. Berd and his team. Everything looks nice, clean and polished in their new Gough location. Sandi, my hygienist is very amicable, thorough on her cleanings and very informative on next steps (eek! flossing...) Dr. Berd is very professional, super approachable and kind to explain in simple terms any issue that I might be having. And I highlight he is very patient as I tend to be a person who asks a lot of questions :) I keep recommending him to all of my friends in need for a dentist.

I've been seeing Dr. Josh Berd for over 3 years now. I've seen a lot of dentists in my life and Dr. Berd is the best I've ever seen. He has been able to achieve miracles that other dentists would not attempt. No dentist is completely pain free, but Dr. Berd is exceptional at minimizing pain and discomfort during procedures. I really like his staff and his wry wit. His office is state of the art with modern equipment. Ask him about his latest surfing adventure when you see him.

I've only been coming to the Dentist Group for under two years in comparison to my last dentist whom I went to for over 10 years (I loved them so much). I've probably only met Sandi 3 times, maaaybe 4. She makes me feel like I've been coming here for over 10 years. It's amazing and I'll be coming back again and again for as long as I live in SF

It's always a pain to find a dentist in a new city, so it took me a couple of visits before I found one that I trusted, and that happens to be this clinic. I've been going here for about a year now, had a number of cavities filled (I literally didn't feel a thing, and even the anaesthetics didn't make me feel numb for longer than 30 minutes max!) Dr. Berd is really friendly, and also the mouth hygienist Elise does a great job. It does take a long time to setup a new appointment (for new joiners), but apart from that highly recommended.

Dr. Berd is great! The office has a clean, modern design and everyone I have interacted with has always been friendly and pleasant. Cleanings are a breeze and I feel Dr. Berd and the hygienists are thorough, competent, and kind. I also like the tool they use to clean teeth. I hadn't been to a dentist for quite some time prior to seeing Dr. Berd, so I am not sure if this is standard now or not - but it is an electric scaler thing rather than the handful of metal hook-like scrapers (scalers) that I was used to. It is more comfortable and seems to go faster. I would absolutely recommend Dr. Berd to anyone looking for a dentist.

I've been going to Dr. Berd & Dr. De Francesco since 2013 and haven't looked back! They always provide the utmost care and kindness whenever I visit. The ladies at the front desk are always ready to help and are patient with me when I need to scroll through my calendar to schedule my next appointment. Thankfully for me, I only ever need my twice-yearly teeth cleanings. If I were to have more serious dental work down the road I know where I'd go. My last visit was fantastic as usual - Dr. De Francesco was kind and professional as always. I will be sad to not have the convenience of the Inner Richmond location anymore, but the team here makes transferring to a new location worth it!

The only reason I am not giving this dental practice five stars is because of the open-plan layout, which makes me uncomfortable when I would like to share private medical information. I have also overheard way too much information when the hygienists and dentists are talking with other patients. This practice uses the latest technology, and Dr. Berd is very skilled. He completed / replaced a couple of fillings for me, and so far I have been satisfied with the results.

Highly recommended! My experience with Dr. Berd and the Dentist Group is always fantastic. If you're going to the dentist, you should feel calm and they do everything to put you at ease. The lobby is welcoming and the space is clean and bright. I have to call out Elise and Dr. Berd who take their time to help with questions and advice. I couldn't ask for a better experience!

I absolutely love everything about this office! Dr. Cheng, Dr. Helen, Sandie, Jade, Jamie...they are all great! The office is clean, everyone is friendly, they follow-up with you to remind you of your appointments and the staff really gets to know you. I would recommend this office to anyone.
